We’re down to the final two weeks of the 2020 NFL season, and they’re about as important to the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders as any teams around the league. Both AFC clubs are technically still alive in the wild-card race, though the Raiders are teetering on elimination after dropping four of their last five. That means, as Dolphins coach Brian Flores said this week, Saturday’s matchup between the two teams is essentially an early playoff game. Miami is currently set to be the odd man out in the fight for the AFC’s final postseason spot, so it’s all but do or die in Week 16.
Can Tua Tagovailoa keep the Dolphins in the mix with a big performance on the road? Or does Jon Gruden’s squad still have some fight left in them? We’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, here’s everything you need to know to prepare yourself for the last of Saturday’s three games:
How to watch
There’s a reason the Dolphins are favored on the road in a must-win matchup, and it has more to do with the Raiders, who’ve now collapsed in two straight Decembers. Las Vegas looked like a legitimate challenger earlier in the year when Derek Carr was slinging the ball with authority, but now the entire operation is bereft of much life and Carr is still recovering from a significant groin injury. Marcus Mariota offered a bit of juice in relief of Carr in Week 15, but over a full game, against Flores’ defense, he projects as nothing more than a middle-of-the-road option.
The Dolphins haven’t exactly wowed on offense, at least consistently, but all the pieces are in place for them here. Whether it’s an ailing Carr or a motivated Mariota, the Raiders are going to have some trouble throwing the ball on Miami’s ball-hawking secondary. Tagovailoa, meanwhile, should have plenty of his own opportunities to air it out — and hand the ball off — on Vegas’ iffy “D.” The Dolphins may not be locks for the playoffs, but they’re sure to remain in the hunt during this matchup.
Projected score: Dolphins 26, Raiders 23

The Arizona Cardinals are on the verge of making the NFC playoffs, needing just a win and a Chicago Bears loss to clinch their first playoff berth in five years. Arizona has the opportunity to put all the pressure on Chicago Saturday, squaring off against the San Francisco 49ers — eliminated from postseason contention a year after capturing the NFC title. The Cardinals have won nine of their last 11 meetings against the 49ers, including their Week 1 thriller that set the tone for the changing of the guard in the NFC West.
The Cardinals are 3.5-point favorites to beat the 49ers, according to William Hill Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 49 points. Both teams are 7-7 against the spread and 5-9 on the over/under this season. Click here to see who are CBS Sports NFL experts picked to win and cover this game and the other Week 16 matchups.
Can the Cardinals put pressure on the Bears by beating the 49ers? We’ll find out soon, but here’s a preview of Saturday’s NFL West showdown.
How to watch
Despite concerns over a shoulder injury, Kyler Murray has been getting hot at the right time. Murray has 22 passing touchdowns and six interceptions over his past 10 games, and he’s rushed for 554 yards and seven touchdowns in that span. Murray led DeAndre Hopkins to a season-high 169 receiving yards in a Week 15 win over the Eagles, which will be huge heading into this game. Hopkins has had at least 10 catches and 100 receiving yards in each of his last two meetings against the 49ers, which will be needed against a top-five passing defense.
The 49ers have turned the ball over at least two times in eight straight games, the NFL’s longest active streak. Their 29 turnovers rank second in the NFL, which is less than ideal against a Cardinals defense that has 14 sacks over their last two games — the most they have had in consecutive games in a single season since the final two games of the 1983 season when they had 17 sacks. San Francisco is in the bottom half of the NFL in sacks allowed with 33, which might allow the Cardinals pass rush to feast again.
The Cardinals have everything to play for while the 49ers are just playing out the string. George Kittle’s return will make a difference, but Arizona has enough riding on the line to avoid the upset.

Chelsea can move into the top four and remain hot on the heels of Premier League pacesetters Liverpool with a Boxing Day victory at rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners find themselves hoping for a Christmas miracle, with Mikel Arteta’s side horribly out of form after just one win in their last 10 Premier League outings, having slipped down to 15th in the table and just four points above the bottom three.
In stark contrast, Chelsea are just a point off the top four and can move into the Champions League-qualification places if Leicester City, Manchester United or Everton slip up this weekend.

Frank Lampard’s side got back to winning ways last weekend with an impressive 3-0 win over West Ham after overcoming a rough patch of their own, but they do have a few injury concerns on their hands that they will have to deal with at the weekend.

Rarely has it been the case at the Emirates that a draw is more likely than a home win, but that sums up the low morale at Arsenal right now and Chelsea are likely to feed off that with ease. It’s a Western Conference showdown to close out the Christmas Day slate
The 2020-21 NBA season is officially underway, and because of the late start this year, we’re jumping right into the Christmas Day festivities. As always there are five marquee games on the schedule, with the league gifting fans a full day of exciting basketball.
Closing out the show this time around will be a Western Conference showdown between the Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets. These two teams are quite familiar with one another, as the Nuggets came back from a 3-1 deficit to stun the Clippers in the second round of the playoffs just a few months ago. Now, they’ll meet again in a new season, as they battle for supremacy in a loaded Western Conference.
Date: Friday, Dec. 25 | 10:30 p.m. ET
Location: Ball Arena — Denver, Colorado
TV: ESPN | Stream: fuboTV (try free)
Odds: Clippers -1.5 | Over/Under: 224
Clippers: After last season’s embarrassing ending, the Clippers made some big changes. Ty Lue is in as the team’s new coach, while Serge Ibaka and Luke Kennard arrived in offseason moves, and Montrezl Harrell and JaMychal Green left in free agency. Time will tell if that was the shake-up they needed, but the initial prognosis is good. They took care of business on opening night against the Lakers, making a statement that they’re up for the challenge of dethroning the champs.
Nuggets: The Nuggets were always going to be ready to go for a playoff rematch against the Clippers on Christmas, but that should be especially true after how their season started. In an early candidate for game of the year, Buddy Hield tipped in a missed dunk at the buzzer sounded in overtime to give the Kings a stunning upset win over the Nuggets.
